A new announcement was made that will affect Northern Ireland only. About
250,000 people will be given a one-off winter fuel payment. This was announced
a few hours ago in the UK and Ireland. The allowances are probably going to
cost about 23 million pounds and will be issued in February 2012. For fleets this
will not help, but it can lessen certain pressures on regular drivers.
The Assembly Member, Sinn Fein, announced the decision at Parliament. Barry
McElduff also stated that the day to day living for low and middle income families
is making people suffer even more. In order to help them with high energy costs
the decision was made to give a small discount on fuel payments. These families
will be able to get a little extra towards their bills. Pensioners and cancer patients
will get a little more as their one-off fuel payments.
It is programmes like these that help out some individuals. While it is a pretty
strict option and it will only help 250,000 with fuel payments, it does give hope
that there are other products or programmes out there that could help you. You
